Singapore Project
Mandai Rainforest
The project brief focused on creating an exotic, tropical getaway inspired by the rich landscapes of Central Africa and Madagascar, with an emphasis on integrating aerial expedition elements. The design aimed to immerse the visitor and their family in a unique environment that brings together the untamed beauty of the region’s flora and fauna, blurring the lines between nature and architecture.
Zoo Project
Our key responsibility in the project was to design and implement an underground pipe system that would connect the electrical infrastructure throughout the zoo. This system encompassed various essential components, including CCTV, the PA system, fire alarms, electrical appliances, and lighting. By ensuring the seamless integration of these elements, we played a crucial role in maintaining the zoo's safety, communication, and overall functionality.

Mandai Park Holdings (MPH) a subsidiary of Temasek Holdings, and now the parent company of Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS), is the parent of Singapore Zoo, the WRS Conservation Fund, the Night Safari, the River Safari and Jurong Bird Park. The Bird Park and the new Rainforest Park will join the existing attractions: the Singapore Zoo, River Safari and Night Safari. The opening of the Bird Park is planned to be in 2020 while the hub is expected to begin full operations in 2023.
The History
The first indications of plans to develop the Mandai area appeared sometime in 2007, which led the Nature Society (Singapore) to publish a report in November of that year outlining their concerns. The STB was looking into a project for eco-tourism south of the Mandai Road area and on both sides of Mandai Lake Road. Involved were two plots of land: a 15 ha piece between Mandai Road, Mandai Lake Road, and the Western Catchment Reserve’s border; and an 18 ha patch between Mandai Track 15 and the Western Catchment Reserve up to the military firing range. The project would damage the region as a forest ecosystem or habitat, creating a parkland environment, leading to the loss of a range of ecological niches, according to the society’s list of concerns, which also included the area’s fragmented and deteriorated state.
